Assessing modal tradeoffs and associated built environment characteristics using a cost-distance framework

Published in Journal of Transport Geography, 2024

This paper uses cost-distance ratios and random forest modelling to measure the mobility costs of different transport modes when commuting in the Dublin metropolitan area.

How the relationship between socio-demographics, residential environments and travel influence commuter choices

Published in Regional Studies, 2024

This paper uses Generalised Structural Equation Modelling, fine-grain spatial data, and individual-level census data to explore the determinants of travel mode choices.

Land-use mixing in Irish cities: Implications for sustainable development

Published in Land Use Policy, 2023

This paper uses fine-grain spatial data to measure the levels of land-use mixing (land-use entropy) across the five major cities of the Republic of Ireland, and assesses the impacts these patterns may have on regional economic, environmental, and social outcomes.

Measuring land-use mixing across the Republic of Ireland: source data comparisons

Published in Journal of Maps, 2023

This paper uses fine-grain spatial data to measure land-use mixing across the five major cities of the Republic of Ireland and creates high-quality cartographic outputs to visualise patterns in the distribution of land-use configurations.

Retail sprawl and CO2 emissions: Retail centres in Irish cities

Published in Journal of Transport Geography, 2022

This paper uses fine-grain spatial network data and individual-level census data to examine how location-effects influence transport-related emissions and travel mode choice when shopping in Irelands five city regions.
